The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Program Support Assistant (PSA). The PSA is assigned to the Polytrauma Network Site Program (PNS) with the Polytrauma System of Care (PSC). The incumbent functions as a program and administrative assistant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide program administrative and technical assistance in the day-to-day operations.
Responsible for recognizing and resolving program issues on an ongoing basis.
Monitor and maintain both facility and program requirements for JCAHO and CARF.
Perform work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the organization's program operation.
Assist in planning, review, and reporting of data and statistical results of program and project studies.
Establish protocols for incoming data.
Organize computerized data sets.
Retrieve computerized data.
Perform basic analysis of the data and generate a variety of reports.
Facilitate arrangement of transportation and travel as needed for PNS staff.
Initiate and manage work orders for the PNS as requested or by self-identification when appropriate, for Engineering Service.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-7 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience may have been gained in a Clerical or Administrative Support environment and include: providing administrative support, operating a personal computer, using a computer to process and analyze data, sorting and processing incoming correspondence, coordinating with others between various units and offices to accomplish work related projects, analyzing work flow to determine potential problem areas and making recommendations to correct, proofreading documents for grammatical errors, notifying others of pending appointments and meetings, and advising others on processes or procedures.

There is no educational substitution for the GS-7 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The physical demands of the position involve standard office requirements such as using the telephone, working with written documents and files, writing, etc. Some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as books, files, papers, etc., and pushing of carts may be involved. Considerable walking between various buildings of the facility is required and occasional off-station activities may be required.
