This position is in the Engineering Service - Projects Section of the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany NY.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include but may not be limited to: Prepares Engineering Drawings, Layouts, Models, and Specifications. Coordinates all projects with using service, from conception to completion. Work with Facility Shops to update record drawings based on the changes they complete within the facility. Assists with accident prevention, review of safety suggestions and preparation of reports pertaining to safety and fire protection. Provides Project Support for Contractor Designs and Construction. Reviews preliminary design drawings and specifications for errors and omissions and technical soundness. Work Schedule: Fulltime, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS8) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties is required: Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: - Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. - Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Contracting/ProcurementDesignProject Management IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
