You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader under the Nuclear Production Manager (Code 300N), Operations Department, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine.
Duties
You will serve as worker leader providing leadership to subordinate workers in accomplishing work within shops and/or mixed trades.
You will perform a variety of tasks involved in the servicing and upkeep of vessels and maintenance of radiologically-controlled buildings.
You will plan and lay out the installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems.
You will maintain HVAC systems and ductwork inside radiological-controlled areas.
You will produce requested carpentry and woodworking products to support shipyard maintenance work.
You will interpret complex instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Occasional overtime may be required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Lead or Supervise as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader, WL-4749-10 performing duties including:
Preparing, packing, and transferring radiological materials in accordance with Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Nuclear Program.
Preparing and coating different types of surfaces by matching, tinting, toning, blending, coating materials and agents.
Providing subordinates the necessary plans, procedures, blueprints, instructions, tools, etc., to perform their work operations.
Obtaining a nuclear quality control (NQC) qualification as set forth by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Nuclear Program.
Using tools and equipment common to the trade.
Understanding safety precautions, principals, and work methods associated with a maintenance mechanic.
Maintaining radioactive material accountability and inventory control.
Escorting liquid and solid radioactive materials waste processing, as required.
