About the Position: This position is located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Duties

Lay out storage space. Establish item locations. Determine organization and arrangement of stock. Identify high and low usage items according to agency regulations and procedures. Duties include hazardous materials, narcotics, pharmaceutical, vaccines, syringes/needles, medical gases, surgical, and other high value items and items requiring specialized handling. Perform duties encompassing a full spectrum of warehousing functions. Daily duties include processing receipts, storage, issues and location management. Serve as a medical quality assurance evaluator and vault custodian for Class VIII narcotics for the entire region.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. Perform one or more of the following warehousing activities under minimal supervision, collecting or receiving or storing or selecting or issuing or transporting shipping materials, supplies or equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Work involves standing, stooping, bending, reaching, frequent lifting and carrying supplies, materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds. Moves heavier items with handling equipment or assistance from other workers. Work may be required at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Operating the handling and transport vehicles involves moderate physical effort in moving material and manipulating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, raising, lowering, stopping and tilting the loads being moved. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Inside areas may be hot, cold, damp, drafty and poorly lighted. Outside work may be performed on loading ramps or in storage yards and may be subject to bad weather conditions: Frequent exposure to temperatures of -40 degrees F and lower. Exposure to dirt, dust, and grease and the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises and falls. Subject to injuries or broken bones because of shifting loads, toppling stacks or overturning when operating forklift. Personnel are subject to exposure from radiation, toxic, explosive or chemical fumes from hazardous materials and waste.
