This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Protective Service.
The primary purpose of this position is to prevent, protect, respond to and recover from terrorism, criminal acts, and hazards threatening the U.S. Government.
This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Budget Analyst, GS-0560-13, your typical work assignments may include:
Ensures the effective integration of program and budget planning using administrative and analytical duties connected with the review, justification and presentation of the budgets of a bureau.
Reviews, approves, disapproves, and recommends the amount and timing of allotments to agency components and programs.
Briefs senior management on methods for allocation of various program cost.
Projects and analyzes effects of budgetary actions on program viability and the attainment of program objectives.
Provides analytical services to support the formulation, justification, presentation, enactment, and execution of the revenue process.

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Developing new methods and techniques to forecast budgets involving long-range revenue needs and statistical justifications for requested funds.
Providing an analytical ability to evaluate and compare program content, cost-benefit analysis, alternative budgeting and program actions.
Developing, recommending, and implementing budgetary policies affecting the financing and accomplishment of major programs.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
