You will serve as a Program Support Assistant in the Information Systems Department of NAVAIR TRAINING HUMAN CAPITAL MGMT GRP. You will serve as the principal program and administrative support assistant for the Information Systems Department and accomplishes assignments related to the effectiveness and efficiency of the Information Systems Department and the Chief of Naval Air Training commands mission to provide continuity and proficiency of administrative office operations and procedures.

Duties

You will serve as the principal administrative assistant and point of contact for the Information Systems Department Assistant Chief of Staff and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for the Chief of Naval Air Training. You will be responsible for accomplishing a broad range of administrative, program support, logistical, and technical services in support of the Chief of Naval Air Training mission and to enhance the operation of the department. You will receive visitors and phone calls, provide informational updates to staff members, prepare and maintain correspondence pertaining to travel, training, supply requests, and other related actions. You will review incoming correspondence prepared for supervisor's signature and checks for timeliness, content of material, grammatical errors and correct format, returns to originator any correspondence that does not conform to required procedures. You will provide orientation to newly hired department personnel on administrative policies and procedures related to the Information Systems Department and the mission of the Chief of Naval Air Training command. You will use existing application software to create, enter, revise, sort, calculate, or retrieve data for reports, and uses graphics software to provide graphs and charts for reports and presentations. You will serve as the primary reviewer for the Defense Travel System (DTS), and maintain current knowledge of regulations, methods, and procedures related to reimbursement of expenses for official travel. You will resolve questions on settlement voucher allowances by researching the voucher, verifying entitlements by reference to a variety of regulations, guides, and explains the basis for payment to travelers. You will perform building coordinator duties and ensure the facility is efficiently maintained, operated, and controlled, consistent with current directives and regulations. You will serve as the departmental mail clerk for all official mail and is responsible for sorting and distributing all incoming official mail by general subject matter to delivery points within the Information Systems Department You will identify requirements for new or additional office equipment, services, and supplies, and prepare necessary documentation to purchase supplies or equipment as appropriate.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector executing administrative and clerical functions for an organization (e.g., customer service, data input, preparing reports, correspondence, maintaining files, creating travel vouchers, and monitoring training schedules) and using automated systems to accurately document and maintain records and/or materials. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of one academic year of graduate education in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position;
OR
a combination of graduate education as described above and experience that equates to one year of experience.
