You will serve as an Automation Technical Specialist in the Auxiliary Controls (Surface Combatants) Branch, Code 544, Hull Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Navigation and Networks and Auxiliary Control Systems Division, Code 54, Cybersecure HM&E Control Systems & Networks Department, Code 50 of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWC PHILA DIV).
Duties
You will provide analysis and technical support to the Program Office in areas of Auxiliary and Fluid Control Systems.
You will participate in program planning meetings with Navy and other DoD organizations and contractor representatives.
You will assist in developing and derivation of technical requirements for control system design, integration, and security.
You will conduct technical reviews that assess the performance, effectiveness and risk of concepts, designs, and technologies of contractor proposals and related elements.
You will provide hardware/software development and troubleshooting expertise.
You will perform development and/or investigative work impacting the command and Navy goals and objectives for Fluid Systems Automation including Auxiliary and Fluid Control Systems.
You will serve as a leader and technical expert with full responsibilities for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating programs/projects/processes.
You will serve as recognized technical authority for the code in applying advanced automation and cybersecurity engineering/science concepts, principles, and processes for Fluid Systems Automation programs/projects.
You will manage, coordinate, direct, and oversee the critical operational and integration systems engineering efforts to establish, maintain, and/or improve control and information systems and their associated hardware and software applications.
You will provide technical expertise in regard to solution of problems encountered during the progress of the work on specific tasks or common to the area of work.
You will provide detailed and comprehensive assessments, and solutions concerning their technical specialty or field to the Fleet maintainers, operators, and all other stakeholders.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer applying advanced theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods of engineering to execute projects, systems development efforts, or research or technology initiatives for Navy systems automation processes, hardware, and software for ships or submarines.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
