You will serve as a General/Mechanical/Electrical/Computer/Electronics Engineer in the Hull & Deck Machinery Systems Div, C/43 of the Propulsion, Power & Auxiliary Machinery Systems Dept, C/40 of NSWC PHILA DIV.

Duties

You will be responsible for the management, review, and approval of Cargo/Weapons Handling and Stowage Systems. You will manage execution of efforts through the requirements of the Systems Engineering Process (SEP) Program to ensure execution within the mission and goals of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD). You will serve as advisor or project/program leader in the planning, organizing and directing of extensive new work efforts of the agency. You will be responsible for ensuring the development and/or implementation of management plans required to define roles and responsibilities between NSWCPD, Sponsors, other Warfare Centers, Technical Warrant Holders and other Stakeholders. You will oversee the management of technical aspects of the project such as oversight of drawing approval processes, oversight for processes for modeling/calculations, and ultimate system certification for unrestricted use.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer providing oversight and guidance in the execution of systems engineering for electrical or mechanical systems. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). OR

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
