This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Training, Cyber Training Unit (TRSC). The primary purpose of this position is to develop and conduct training or education of personnel within the cyber investigations domain. In addition, the incumbent provide technical support to customers who need advice, assistance, and training in applying hardware and software systems.

As a Training Instructor (Cybersecurity), your typical work assignments may include: Developing and delivering instructor-led and computer-based training for adults, developing and revising training courses and preparing appropriate training materials. Using a wide variety of information, documentation, and regulations on the use of information technology resources, data security and acquisitions guidance to address and/or adapt to specific problems or issues related to on-line (cyber) investigations. Developing courses and instructional material to educate technical and nontechnical personnel, preparing instructor materials (outlines, support materials, and training aids), and preparing student materials (manuals, workbooks, handouts, websites, and course critique forms). Evaluating the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of existing training programs and recommending revisions to curriculums, training sessions; reviews training documentation (e.g., Course Content Documents [CCD]. Serving as an internal consultant and advisor in own area of expertise (IT, networking, vulnerability testing, etc.).

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Individual Occupational Requirement AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled; OR Experience: General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes: 1) Developing training materials expertized in cyber investigations (e.g. Firewalls, Internet, Remote Access); 2) Facilitating small/large group discussions; answering questions in a clear and concise manner, talking to others to convey information effectively; 3) Accessing and evaluating systems requirements for a cyber investigations organization/unit. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
