Tactical Operations Division, Springfield, VA. The selectee of this position serves as a Public Safety Communication Specialist. You will be responsible for providing law enforcement communications support for United States Marshal Service.

Duties

As a Public Safety Communication Specialist at the GS-0301-9/11 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Makes sound, well informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change. GS-09 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-0301-09 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications: Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: analyzing incoming intelligence data from a threat perspective and determining where to route the information operating two-way radio equipment to provide radio response services to emergency personnel operating a mass notification system to broadcast important announcements to key personnel utilizing investigative databases to find information and disseminate information to appropriate staff managing stressful two-way communications with law enforcement involving life or death circumstances OR Education: Possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree (LL.B or J.D.) or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field of study directly related to the position that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. (Must submit a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-0301-11 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications: Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: assisting with the activation of Emergency Operations Center providing support during critical times operating a mass notification system to broadcast important announcements to key personnel utilizing investigative databases to find information and disseminate information to appropriate staff managing stressful two-way communications with law enforcement involving life or death circumstances OR Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.M. degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.
