The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Inspector General is currently looking for a Supervisory Accountant (Forensics) in the Office of Investigations, Cyber Investigations & National Case Support Division. Duties

As a Supervisory Accountant (Forensics), you will:

• Must obtain and maintain a “Q” security clearance.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: applying accounting principles, techniques, and theories to assist in the development of cases for administrative, civil or criminal investigations, and consults with case agents and attorneys to determine specific objectives and requirements involving forensic accounting aspects of investigations. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.

Education

All applicants must meet one of the following basic eligibility requirements in order to qualify for this position:

1. Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.

   or

2. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:

   1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
   2. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
   3. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.

To meet the education requirement for this position, applicants must submit an unofficial/official transcript or a list of courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned. Education completed in foreign colleges and universities may be used if the institution has been accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education.
