This position is located in the Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Assistant Commandant for Acquisition, Acquisition Directorate, Assistant Program Executive Officer, Office of Aviation Acquisitions in Washington, DC.

Duties

This position serves as the Lead Logistician for the Office of Aviation Acquisitions (CG-931) in coordinating and integrating the planning, programming, development, oversight, scheduling, and overall management of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for aviation acquisition projects within the Acquisition Directorate (CG-9) at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC.  These projects are incorporating new capabilities and extending the service life of the current fleet of the Coast Guard’s fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, along with managing obsolescence and incorporating new technologies for global air traffic management and cybersecurity.

  • This position requires a SECRET clearance.
  • This position may require a one (1) year probationary period.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-14, applicants must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience should demonstrate: Coordinating and reviewing design development and systems engineering activities affecting integrated logistics support (ILS). Developing and implementing logistics policies, plans and programs. Translating ILS requirements into contractual requirements. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Education

** Level III Acquisition Certification in Life Cycle Logistics is highly desired.

OR

Demonstrated path of coursework and experience to obtain this certification within 18 months of onboarding. Well-qualified applicants who also possess a COR certification or certifications in other career fields, particularly Program/Project Management, should be indicated.
