The primary purpose of the work in this position is to provide analytical and evaluative assistance to the Head of Planning and Evaluation in the Visitor Experience and Evaluation department responsible for planning and overseeing the department’s research and evaluation efforts related to programs, exhibitions, interpretative resources, collection installations and visitor experience initiatives.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-343-11. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is at least 1 year of general experience as a GS-9; providing analytical and evaluative assistance for an organization where staff and visitor experience are the focal point in the organization’s operations.

Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in applying analytical and evaluative thinking and techniques sufficient to developing both short- and long-range plans for research and evaluation projects related to programs, exhibitions, interpretative resources, collection installations, and other visitor experience initiatives.
Experience with a wide range of quantitative and qualitative data collection methods and with analyzing the resulting data; and preparing new and existing data for comparative analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to interact with the public comfortably and effectively, including interviewing visitors about their experiences at the museum, and abiding by standard human research protections.
Demonstrated abilities in data visualization techniques that promote data accessibility, comprehension, and usability, and tell compelling human stories with data.
Demonstrated understanding of the conceptual and theoretical issues that underlie research and evaluation in informal learning environments.
Proficiency in the fundamentals of the social sciences, program evaluation, audience research, and art.
Proficiency in basic project management skills, as well as showing close attention to detail while remaining flexible to the changes inherent in the life of a project.
Working knowledge of SurveyMonkey and Tableau; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with strength in Excel, as well as PowerPoint and Outlook.
