This Direct-Hire position is in the Food and Drug Administration and is located in the Office of the Commissioner (OC), Office of Digital Transformation (ODT), Office of Information Management and Technology (OIMT), Office of Information Security, which is located in Rockville, Maryland.

Duties

Serve as Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Security) in providing oversight of cybersecurity and infrastructure operations. Manage the classification, investigation, escalation, resolution, and reporting of all high-severity infrastructure and cybersecurity incidents. Safeguard Information Technology operations and information in accordance with Federal Information Processing Standards Support network engineering, implementation, configuration and operational support for new and existing tools within the infrastructure to prevent and mitigate risk. Coordinate intrusion attempts, network and application disruptions, coordinate escalation, and incident response activities.

Qualifications

The position of Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) falls under the 2210 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-15, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 11/15/2023. Basic Requirements GS-15 (or equivalent): individuals must have experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below at the appropriate position level. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, which includes (1) Leading and overseeing the work activities, products, and resources of a team or group of employees; (2) developing and recommending policies, procedures, and strategic guidance related to Cyber Security and Information Security Programs; (3) and providing technical advice and assistance regarding performance standards, functions, capabilities, and Federal human capital to senior and mid-level management staff and program officials. All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 11/15/2023.
