You will serve as a EQUIPMENT SPECIALSIT (AIRFRAME & AIRFRAME EQUIPMENT) in the ROTARY WING DIVISION, AIRCRAFT AND ENGINES DEPARTMENT (N4211) of COMNAVAIRLANT.
Duties
You will review on a daily basis all correspondence received by the command relating to rotary wing aircraft including their installed equipment.
You will initiate the planning and distribution of the various configurations of rotary wing aircraft with the long-range operating schedules of the ships, airwings and squadrons.
You will plan and identify major field team repairs to be negotiated with the Naval Air Systems Command and the appropriate cognizant facility.
You will monitor assignment of helicopter inventory for adequacy and identify required changes.
You research, evaluate, and recommend solutions to technical engineering problems relating to helicopters concerning problems of part reliability and maintenance difficulties.
You will review al technical engineering directives including changes, bulletins, Rapid Action Minor Engineering Changes (RAMEC) and Maintenance Engineering Reports.
You will maintain liaison with appropriate personnel on the CNAF staff, contemporaries in the Naval Air Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command, and Naval Aviation Depot.
You will compile information for briefings for COMNAVAIRFOR and other flag officers and may be required on helicopter configuration management, aircraft maintenance information systems, and related engineering subjects.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Some risk and exposure to high noise levels at field and embarked operational sites, maintenance areas and factories is encountered.
Qualifications
GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience using physical sciences, engineering principles, aircraft structural concepts, manufacturing techniques, maintenance methods and practices in order to interpret, evaluate, advise appropriate action on a broad spectrum of technical matters.
Experience in practices and procedures used in each of the elements of logistic support and the evolution of engineering changes from design to installation is required.
Experience using general business management principles and of the management principles of the Department of the Navy in budgeting, material acquisition and life cycle support.
Experience and extensive knowledge of helicopter design, operating characteristics, mission environment and configuration management is required.
Experience in effectively communicate orally, both extemporaneously and formally, and in writing to prepare presentations, briefs, technical reports, messages and letters.
Experience editing for content, clarity, accuracy and conformance to policy.
Experience in the development and planning of projects and to the solution of difficult aircraft support and changes installation problems.
