The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Information Technology (IT) System Administrator responsible for providing, directing, organizing, designing, and implementing logistics IT systems to meet business requirements of 733d Force Support Squadron (733 FSS) employees.
Duties
Plans and organizes activities of the 733d Force Support Squadron/IT Department, ensuring that the IT Department complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Represents 733 FSS with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Provides customer technical assistance support and conducts feasibility studies to analyze 733 FSS NET LAN failures.
Determines 733 FSS NET network requirements for activities and assists users by recognizing and analyzing trends, providing guidance and orientation services.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. Incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA Certification within six (6) months of assignment of these duties.
- A waiver of this six (6) month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA Certification may result in removal from this position.
- This is a temporary position NTE 1 year.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes: Applying system integration methods, performance tuning methods, and testing/evaluation methods; Troubleshooting complex computer system failures; Providing advisory services, consultation, technical assistance and training; and determining requirements and resolving problems involving operating systems, network systems, protocols, and equipment.

EDUCATION: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-9 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, procedures, and operational responsibilities and requirements.
2. Knowledge of network use and systems maintenance sufficient to give needed guidance or training to customers and workgroup managers to identify and prevent problem recurrences.
3. Knowledge of system software and systems development life cycles, including systems documentation, design development, configuration management, cost analysis, systems integration, and testing.
4. Skill in applying systems analysis and systems design techniques to maximize the efficiency of management information systems and other automated systems.
5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
