About the position: This position will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, Outdoor Recreation, Fairchild AFB, WA.
Plans, directs, and manages a wide range of diverse year-round outdoor adventure based programs that focus on developing resiliency skills for the Fairchild AFB community. This position is provided guidance when performing new or complex duties.
This is a Flexible (Intermittent) position; guaranteed 0-40 hours per week; depending on the needs of the facility.
Duties
Plans, directs, and manages a wide range of diverse year-round outdoor adventure based programs that focus on developing resiliency skills for the Fairchild AFB community. This position is provided guidance when performing new or complex duties. Routine work is performed independently. Routine work includes but is not limited to; planning and conducting recurring patron activities such as; alpine skiing, cross country/touring skiing, backpacking, whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, rock climbing, hunting/fishing and other customer or outdoor director desired programs. Plans, organizes, schedules, and coordinates operational risk management for trips and classes. Independently, serves as subject matter expert by demonstrating and instructing participants in the use of all outdoor activity equipment use and safety. Provides guidance and leadership for
various recreation/leisure activity programs. Performs a wide variety of administrative work such as preparing after action reports, receiving and responding to customer critiques, comments or complaints. Must be able to operate up to I0,000 lb vehicle w/trailer. May be required to provide additional outdoor recreation information and assistance to help patrons with selecting any furthering interests in additional recreational programs. Will be required to drive 15 passenger van with trailer. Performs other duties as deemed necessary by program director.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.
- This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License to operate vehicles.
- This position requires to obtain and maintain a good driving record.
- This position may require working a variable schedule, which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have at least one current nationally recognized certification in an outdoor recreation field or be able to provide proof of enrollment in a nationally recognized course in an outdoor recreation field. Courses could include but are not limited to Swiftwater Rescue, Wilderness First Aid, ACA Kayak Instructor, etc. Proof of enrollment may include a letter from the instructor. If enrolled in a course, employment is contingent upon successful completion. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance and pass pre-employment physical. Must possess valid driver's license w/good driving record. This position is a drug tested position subjected to random drug testing. Must be able to work rotating tour of duty with different hours of the day, or different days of the workweek. Must satisfactorily complete National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
