About the position: This position will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, Aquatics Center, Fairchild AFB, WA.
Teaches various swimming skills and water safety, for all age groups. Prepares material, i.e. lesson plans, instructional tools, etc., for classes being taught prior to teaching sessions.
This is a Flexible (Intermittent) position; 0-40 hours per week; depending on the needs of the facility.
Duties
Teaches various swimming skills and water safety, for all age groups. Prepares material, i.e. lesson plans, instructional tools, etc., for classes being taught prior to teaching sessions. Inspects all class materials to ensure proper operation, sanitation, and safety prior to each teaching session. Completes all course paperwork and turns in to supervisor in a timely manner. Ensures safety of all patrons in the class. May perform the duties of teaching basic lifeguarding and emergency care skills. Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Enforces pool rules with customers. Promptly reports all safety hazards to supervisor. Completes incident reports and assists in maintaining routine documents and reports. May perform work that poses demands beyond normal requirements during teaching. Work may be performed in settings where exposure to high temperatures, and/or adverse weather exist. May perform other related duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: restocking restrooms, cleaning of bath house, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, sunbathing areas, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position may require working a variable schedule, which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have current nationally recognized certification in Water Safety Instruction or be able to provide proof of related training and experience. Proof of related training and experience can be a letter from a previous or current aquatics supervisor. Experience which provides a practical knowledge of instructional and developmental teaching methods, swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
