The position is within the Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Software Engineering Center (SEC) Technical Services Directorate (TSD) at APG, Maryland. You will serve as a supervisor managing the operations and mission of the Cyber and Software Solution Division. Will drive technical initiatives to include modern software development practices (agile/secure coding), cybersecurity (Software Assurance and RMF), data analytics and automation, and digital software distribution solutions.
Duties
Administrative actions and tasks associated with serving as a first-line and second-line supervisor.
Manage facets of technical programs involving life cycle software support for Army applications/systems.
Conduct strategic planning, conceptualizing, integration or assimilation of technical work within the division.
Assigns work and set priorities to lower-level supervisors, team leaders and/or employees.
Direct and oversee modern software development, delivery, and data solutions.
Furnish guidance (e.g. policy guidance, or program guidance) to internal personnel or external to the organization.
Oversee technical initiatives, operations / maintenance, or cyber security for information technology within the organization.
Establish project goals/priorities, or evaluates results through periodic reviews, briefings, or reports.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management certification within 48 months as of entrance on duty.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance for the duration of employment.
- Occasional temporary duty (TDY) travel is required away from the duty station up to 25%.
- Short notice travel to world-wide locations, using the fastest mode of transportation available may be required.
- A one-year supervisory probation period is required unless requirements have previously been met.
- This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP). Acquisition Corps Membership is no longer required for Critical Acquisition Positions (CAP). CAP selectees must execute a 3-year tenure agreement.
- Commensurate with mission requirements, the incumbent can be required to work irregular duty hours to include working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Basic Requirement for SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN):
Specialized and Other Experience: To qualify for this position, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (DE-03 or GS-13) or equivalent pay band in the Federal service which includes: 1) Manage technical programs or activities involving modern software development, cybersecurity implementation, or data analytics. 2) Plan technical/business operational programs/requirements in the areas of information technology; AND 3) Experience in leading, planning, managing, or directing the administrative and/or technical work of an organization (e.g., team lead, and/or branch chief).
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower pay band/grade level position in the federal service (DE-03/GS-13).The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: convincingly conveying complex information to customers; presenting thoughts that are well-organized and demonstrating confidence in the facts and ideas; adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information.
