This position is located in the Outpatient Department, Division of Nursing, of the Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC), in Polacca, Arizona. The purpose of the position is to provide direction and leadership for the nonprofessional nursing staff and for planning and arranging the delivery of ambulatory services in order to maintain continuity of comprehensive care.

Duties

Provide supervision, leadership, and direction of subordinate staff in the Outpatient Department. Supervision is provided in an efficient, equitable manner to insure quality and safe patient care. Provides direction, instructions and training in tasks, job techniques and the use of specialty equipment. Plans and adjusts work assignments and operations to meet organizational objectives, priorities, deadlines, and standards of care. Perform nursing care duties as needed to maintain nursing skills and cover staffing shortages. Participates in advanced cardiac, trauma, pediatric and neonatal advanced life support.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: Experience in providing direction, leadership, guidance, professionalism, supervision, and evaluation to the nursing staff. Experience with the hospital Performance Improvement Coordinator to assure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) Standards. Experience in Evidence-Based Practices through maintaining knowledge of current trends and interventions of all aspects of nursing care. Experience of a wide range of nursing concepts, principles, and practices to perform highly specialized nursing assignments of advanced nature and considerable difficulty. OR Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
