This position is the Supervisory Clinical Nurse (Inpatient) for the Nursing Services Division, Emergency Department located at the Hopi Health Care Center in Polacca, Arizona and will report to the Supervisory Clinical Nurse (Chief Nurse Executive). The Supervisory Clinical Nurse will provide leadership for the Inpatient nursing programs and ensure the delivery of hospital services in order to maintain the continuity of comprehensive patient care.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Develops the nursing staff work schedule and notifies the Chief Nurse Executive of needed changes to the schedule such as annual leave requests, educational leave, court leave, etc.; Develops monthly management reports. Maintains unit specific records for patient assignments, Daily Nursing Report, chart review participation, and emergency checklists; Collaborates with the Chief Nurse Executive in the management of all unit nursing care activities and in the planning implementation, coordination, and evaluation of nursing and personnel educational activities that directly and indirectly affect patient care outcomes.
Clinical Duties: Ability to provide and implement plan of care based on the nursing process and standards of care as follows, including but not limited to: Assess acute and chronic condition including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs as it pertains to patients located in the above department; Observe and assess patient conditions: recognize, identify and interpret serious situations and immediate decide proper action; Perform Head to Toe assessment and evaluate consistent with Medical- Surgical & Obstetric standards of care; Administrations of prescribed medications.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0610-12:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assess, plan, implement, direct and evaluate the care of patients in an outpatient facility setting; implement accreditation requirements; supervise subordinate staff; prepare work performance plans, schedules and evaluate work performance of subordinate staff; as a supervisor initiate and submit required information to fill vacancy position, promote subordinate staff, give advice, counsel or instruction to subordinate staff on administrative matters, hear and resolve complaints from staff, effect disciplinary measures when needed.
