The primary purpose of this position is to lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis. Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensures that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards.
Duties
Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers.
Performs work. Performs nonsupervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew lead.
Works along with crew members to set the pace, checks work while in progress as well as when completed to ensure that predetermined standards of quality, work procedures, and sequence established by the supervisor have all been met by personnel.
Periodically checks supply of materials and equipment and insures needed supplies and equipment to accomplish work assignments are available and manages the tool control program.
Ensures that the crew abides by all rules, regulations, and policies established by higher authority relative to safety, security, fire prevention, and good housekeeping.

- This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position.
- Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
- Will be required to operate and use aerial type lifts and platforms of various types and heights up to 80 ft.
- As required by management, may work day, swing, and owl shifts and uncommon tours of duty. Emergency overtime may be required.
- Provides on the job training to lower grade, borrowed, and newly assigned personnel.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- Observes safety, security, good housekeeping, fire prevention , and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) rules, regulations, practices and policies.
- Will use respirator if required and attend respirator-training classes when scheduled by training monitor.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate valid driver’s license is required.
- This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
- May be required to be placed on an “On Call’ roster for after-hours response repair work.
- Position requires CFC/NCFC Certification (universal) as required by 40 CFR part 82, Subpart F., EPA.
- Must be able to read basic colors.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 - Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of the position.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
