This Program Support Assistant position is in Geriatrics and Extended Care at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital,in Bedford, MA. This position is full time at 40 hours per week.
The incumbent serves as the primary source of administrative and clerical support to the ACOS/Geriatrics and Extended Care (G&EC).
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assists computer users regarding selection of applications and appropriate formats and procedures for tasks;
Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or arranges conferences;
Screens calls and personally answers calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements;
Edits, composes, and review letters and reports for accuracy and completeness;
Collects, compiles, and/or tracks data and statistical information;
Serves as official timekeeper - notifying supervisors when leave limits are exceeded, posting staff time and attendance, processing timecards;
Receives, processes, and reviews documents and reports;
Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents;
Keeps/types meeting minutes, agendas and reports;
Collects, assembles, and compiles data for administrative and management reports;
Organizes data into Access databases or spreadsheet formats;
Performs database file searches;
Uses spreadsheet software to develop and change spreadsheets in order to graphically display data:
Performs office automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database, and/or graphics; and
Assumes other related duties.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30am-4:00pm.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/10/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years and must be included with your application packet.

Specialized Experience (GS-07):
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Practical knowledge of standard office procedure; comprehensive knowledge in the use of personal computers and various software packages: specifically, Windows, Word, Excel, Access, lnfoPath, SharePoint, and VISTA, and skill in keyboarding and operating standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines and scanners.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Typically, the employee sits to do the work. However, there is walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers and books and carrying equipment from one area to another, such as a slide projector, LCD and overhead projectors, chairs, tables, and screen. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
