The Office of Congressional Workplace Rights (OCWR) seeks an individual to serve as an integral part of the organization in the role of the IT Specialist to provide technical assistance to the organization and staff. Responsible for day-to-day oversight of critical elements of the Office.
The IT Specialist is located in the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights, Office of the Executive Director, and reports to the Director of Information Technology.
Duties
Provide tier one technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person, addressing hardware, software, and network-related issues promptly, professionally with detailed follow up.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems reported by end-users, including diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, performing system backups, and ensuring data integrity.
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software, printers, and peripheral devices.
Install, configure, setup and troubleshoot VoIP and cellular phones.
Assist in the deployment and maintenance of network equipment, including switches, routers, and wireless access points.
Create and update user accounts, passwords, and permissions in accordance with established procedures.
Collaborate with senior IT staff to escalate and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring timely and effective problem resolution.
Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and support activities in a clear and concise manner.
Provide end-user training and guidance on technology-related topics, ensuring users are equipped with the necessary knowledge to effectively utilize technology resources.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, proactively recommending improvements to enhance the overall IT infrastructure and user experience.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
Willingness to learn and apply cyber security principles.
Assists specialists with the development, testing and deployment of new software packages and images.
Assists specialist with regional and local projects, refreshes and system upgrades.
Assists with maintaining IT asset inventory.
Qualifications
Practical knowledge of a wide range of technical, operational, and administrative methods; communication/organization principles and practices; and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult projects.
1-3 years of demonstrated IT experience using project management principles, methods, and tools.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to translate technical language to business language.
Ability to identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment and be resourceful to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.
Ability to provide excellent customer service working with vendors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field. Related certifications with experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
