THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (Title 32), Position Description Number D1472000 and is part of the OK 137th Special Operations Wing, Oklahoma Air National Guard.
Duties
This position is located in an Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. The purpose of this position is to assist the Senior Health System Administrator in planning, controlling, conducting, and administering the operational and medical activities with direct responsibility for assigned programs, to train and evaluate traditional Aeromedical Evacuation Technician proficiency and competency and provide ground and flight instruction for developing and upgrading the skills of traditional Aeromedical Evacuation Technicians. Performs a variety of duties associated with nursing services/patient care on Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) flights, administers AE activities and reviews and coordinates projects and activities on behalf of the Squadron Commander. Ensures that command medical and operational policies are applied and carried out in the day-to-day operation of an Air National Guard (ANG) Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. Plans, organizes, and implements programs, policies, and procedures designed to ensure unit readiness for wartime tasking capability. Develops and implements training plans/opportunities. Interprets and complies with all applicable directives.
Assists in planning, controlling, directing, organizing, and implementing all medical administrative, operational, training, and personnel activities designed to ensure medical readiness of the unit.
Manages medical service personnel in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care activities and related training programs, both on the aircraft and on the ground. Organizes and directs administrative and operational duties.
Develops, plans, implements, and administers training, disaster response, detailed mobility plans, emergency disaster plans, operations plan for AT and field training exercises, and other similar plans.
Compiles reports of deficiencies and achievements of periodic inspections of unit activities.
Manages the unit's medical and non-medical supply/equipment accounts and may be the equipment custodian for the unit.
Manages the unit deployment program. May serve as Unit Deployment Manager. Manages the Isolated Personnel Report (ISOPREP) program.
Schedules physical examinations and immunization of unit members and makes necessary arrangements with the host medical facility for their accomplishment. May serve as Unit Health Monitor.
Trains unit members in the performance of supervisory training duties.
Assists the Senior Health System Administrator in the recruiting program to ensure full manning of the unit. Maintains close liaison with recruiting sources in the military/civilian populous to include medical and academic institutions.
Requirements
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Qualifications
Military Grades: E5 through E6
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
All series personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level and must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in a career skill competency level immediately below the next higher level. Must have validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. Must have a minimum of one-year on-the-job experience in a career skill competency in a similar career field. Must be able to validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Have 12 months experience military or civilian and knowledge of the basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems. Military or civilian working knowledge is required in general clerical procedures; medical terminology; regulations, or directives; health records administration; or anatomy and physiology programs. Must have at least 12 months military or civilian experience at a novice competency level in one of the medical service core functions, which are prescribed as: Health facilities, health plan management, medical resources, health care information management or information technology, medical logistics, medical readiness, or aeromedical evacuation. Have military or civilian working experiences and knowledge in analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems.
Education
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
