The Health System Specialist oversees, analyzes, improves, and coordinates all administrative, management ,clinical, business, and support services to ensure optimal clinical operations within the Dental Health Clinic.. The manager will report to the Dental Department Chief for the day-to-day performance and operation of a large multiple disciplined referral center and ambulatory clinic, and ensures quality patient care is provided in accordance with the agency's mission and objectives.
Duties
Serves as the department credentialing coordinator. Monitors, tracks, identifies and evaluates credentialing data and criteria for the office.
Maintains current knowledge of requirements, regulations, and notifications governing credentialing. Assists in education and training of Service Unit staff on patient centered medical home and/or quality or accreditation related processes/tools for improvement Coordinates supports meetings such as web casts and training for Dental Services, Medical Staff, Medical/Dental Home and develops and maintains all databases and management support systems
Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, policies, procedures, bylaws, regulatory requirements, and best
practice guidelines including Privacy of Healthcare Information, OSHA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory
standards. Addresses quality, safety, and infection control issues for I.H.S. PIMC Dental Clinic, by making
recommendations to correct gaps with routine analysis and process improvements.
Serves as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) contracts under direct management

Individual Occupational Requirements
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration OR
GS-10: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-09 grade level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Coordinates mission critical clinical and administrative operational services as well as provides support for all administrative matters affecting the delivery of the Dental Services at PIMC by applying management principles and practices of the dental services health care delivery system to solve the unique problems. Solutions result in the increased efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes, goals, and objectives. The Specialist will develop, analyze, evaluate and coordinate a variety of complex administrative assignments and initiatives.2)support operational and program improvement, the incumbent performs the following duties: Plans, conducts, and coordinates a wide variety of analytical and evaluative studies and programs involving various qualitative and quantitative methods and techniques designed to improve administrative operational effectiveness and efficiency. 3)Reviews and approves serious disciplinary actions (e.g., suspensions) involving nonsupervisory subordinates; Recommends awards or bonuses for nonsupervisory personnel and changes in position classification, subject to approval by higher level officials, supervisors, or others; and Finds and implements ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production, promote team building, or improve business practices. 4)Coordinates with the Acquisitions Department and level 2 COR, for IHS, ensuring compliance with all appropriate federal, purchasing, contracting, and fiscal authorities to include, but not limited to, the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Health and Human Services Acquisition Regulation System (HHSAR).
