The incumbent of this position is to provide administrative and technical support and coordination to the co-Chiefs of Primary Care, Specialty Medicine and the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) utilizing positive communication skills to internal and external customers.
Duties
Major Duties but not limited to:
Receives, schedules, refers and contacts members of the staff, agency and persons outside of the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public
Provides general clerical public contact support services such as answering the telephone, referring visitors or providing information about the office, its functions and standard operating procedures as well as similar information
Screens calls and personally answers calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements
Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail
Submits work orders to Engineering Service, Environmental Management Services and Information Resources Management Service
Prepares, submits, and keeps records of staff education reports
Schedules conference rooms, preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes
Prepares and submits travel documents for employees
Makes travel reservations for employees
Submits recruitment packages to HRM
Serves as Contract Officer Representative (COR)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Work hours may be either 7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm (work hours may be further discussed during interview)
Telework: Ad Hoc (Situational) - This type of telework occurs on an occasional, non-routine basis-for example, inclement weather, or, telework that occurs to complete short-term special assignments or to accommodate special circumstances even though the telework arrangement may occur continuously for a limited and specific period of time.VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
This position requires a Typing Proficiency of 40 words per minute.
In addition to the Typing Proficiency, you may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-06 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience with preparing reports, documents and correspondence and maintaining departmental records; skill in operation of an electronic typewriter, personal computer and associated programs; maintaining calendars, appointments, and schedules.
