You will serve as a SUPERVISORY RESEARCH EPIDEMIOLOGIST in the Biosurveillance Department, Infectious Diseases Directorate of NAVHLTHRSCHCEN SDIEGO.
Duties
You will develop plans for the collection of survey data and the study research agenda.
You will be responsible for the submission of research proposals to funding agencies in order to conduct research on topics important to the Navy, DoD, and civilian research communities.
You will assist in providing management oversight of studies to ensure efficient operations and data integrity.
You will participate in all aspects of the research design, implementation, analysis, and presentation of results for epidemiological research projects conducted.
You will monitor the translation and transition of research related to infectious diseases.
You will lead critical reviews of the scientific literature to locate relevant research reports on infectious disease epidemiology.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing advice, guidance, and direction on a broad spectrum of public health and population health problems;
Experience conducting comprehensive investigations to identify and characterize risk factors, develop strategies to reduce incidence of injuries and illnesses, and evaluate/ recommend preventative measures;
Experience using statistical and analytical tools, such as SPSS and SAS;
Experience assessing the risk of infectious illnesses in humans due to potential risk factors and writing and editing manuscripts, briefings, presentations, and publishing scientific reports in peer-reviewed journals.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess successful completion of Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
