About the Position: This position is located in the Linen Division, Materials Management Department, Directorate for Administration, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Duties

Serve as the technical and administrative Lead Worker over the Linen Division (branch, section, unit), responsible for vital task of ensuring clean, sanitized linens are available throughout the installation. Deliver daily exchange carts to customers within the main facility including all wards and clinics. Work alongside and assist with initiating the work by assigning the immediate tasks to individuals. Check work in progress and completed work to ensure work complies with the supervisor's instructions. Advise and ensure that all deadlines are met and reports to supervisors on work progress.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • This position may include shift work (weekends, holidays).
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Linen Worker Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. You must have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex work involving leading, assisting and working alongside other linen workers. Responsible for checking work in progress and completed work to ensure work compiles with the supervisor's instructions. You must be skilled in work related operations to include receipt, storage, alteration, issue, and shipment of linen items, analyzing instructions received to assure all linen materials, equipment, and supplies are maintained properly, and coordinating of daily transportation procedures for pick up/delivery of linen to and from laundry while utilizing a motor vehicle. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)Ability to Lead or SuperviseDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent performs work on hard surfaces in work areas that require stooping, bending, and standing for prolonged periods. Lifting soiled or contaminated linen bags from 25 to 50 pounds is commonly required. The incumbent must be able to pull daily exchange carts weighing as much as 300 pounds and push bulk clean and soiled linen carts weighing between 150 to 500 pounds. When working with contaminated or soiled linen, the incumbent is required to wear protective clothing, masks and gowns. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are of a nature that are occasionally uncomfortable due to high heat and humidity during the summer, cold and drafty conditions during the winter as well as occasional inadequate lighting. Exposures to these conditions are infrequent and never for any prolonged periods. This is normally a 0730 to 1600, seven days per week job. The division, however, is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 day a week through the use of military linen recall roster.
