About the Position: Serves as the Chief, Private Sector Engagement Branch and Interorganizational Coordinator, in the Public-Private Cooperation (PPC) Division, Partnering Directorate (SCJ9), United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), located in Miami, Florida.
Duties
Communicate clearly, orally and in writing, with USSOUTHCOM staff, DoD, other Federal agencies, foreign governments and military officers throughout the military headquarters and field structure, as well as the private sector.
Ability to work independently under pressure, set priorities, analyzes situations, and make decisions using foreign/public relation sensitivity.
Make the appropriate decisions as to program content and have the ability to brief the same on short notice and advise all applicable parties on the mission and role of the Public Private Cooperation Office and the Partnering Directorate.
Developing detailed plans, goals, and objectives for the long-range implementation and administration of the program.
Understanding of DoD and USSOUTHCOM organization, structure, and functions at all geographic locations, to include military regulations and practices.
Represents USSOUTHCOM, and the Office of Public Private Cooperation in dealings with the Private Sector and interorganizational entities: interagency, international, intergovernmental, non-governmental, academia, and business.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a drug testing position. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires DoD SC Workforce (SCW) Certification level: SC Execution Support Management (AOC) Basic Level--1 year.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating methods and techniques within the Public Private Cooperation Division and the Partnering Directorate, especially as they apply to Private Sector and interorganizational entities. Experience with policies, regulations, and procedures required to effectively plan and manage the actions of the Partnering Directorate and its distinguished Private Sector and interorganizational contacts. Experience with foreign and public relations policies and goals, and internationally accepted protocol procedures and skills to develop programs which meet OSDs and DoDs foreign/public relations goals, as well as conform to nationally, and internationally accepted protocol rules and practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
