You will serve as an ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR in the Public Works Department, Base Support Vehicles and Equipment and Integrated Solid Waste Division of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will be responsible for operating gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles such as tractor-trailer combinations, semi, refuse trucks, or other vehicles typically with a gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds.
You will be responsible for daily inspection and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment, filling out operator's daily check list cards, identifying operational defects and/or discrepancies.
You will be responsible for the safe operation of assigned equipment at all times and will immediately report any accidents or incidents to a higher authority.
You will operate engineering and construction equipment for assignments.
You will drive vehicles on public roads (or equivalent) in a full range of traffic conditions and at highway speeds to transport supplies, hazardous materials, equipment, and/or passengers.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Incumbent works mostly outside and operates vehicles and equipment in all kinds of traffic and under many adverse weather conditions on public roads and may be exposed to the danger of serious accidents
- Incumbent may be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present.
- Incumbent will be required to possess and maintain a valid Washington State Class "A" Commercial Driver's License upon selection. Out of state CDL license is acceptable and must be transferred to a Washington State License within 30 days of hire.
- Operation of other equipment may require additional licensing, e.g., forklift, bailer, sorter, etc. or other equipment associated with recycle operations.
- This position may require regular, frequent travel away from the normal duty station and may be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within NAVFAC Northwest.
- The incumbent may be required to participate in programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations which may include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personnel protective equipment, and medical surveillance.
