As an Equipment Specialist, you will work in a developmental capacity assisting Senior Specialists in the evaluation of nationwide policies and programs; perform projects to ensure improvements and support the validation of HVAC equipment systems;and perform data support functions in compliance with maintenance policies, procedures and programs utilizing the National Computerized Maintenance Management System (NCMMS).
This position is located in the Potomac Service Center.
Duties
Provide support and assistance to Senior Equipment Specialists ensuring proper operation, care, servicing, and repair of building systems and equipment in GSA-owned and operated buildings under lease and assist customer service centers in maintenance management program goals.
Assist in the evaluation of the validity of nationwide maintenance policies and programs utilizing the National Computerized Maintenance Management System (NCMMS) or similar systems.
Collaborate with others to coordinate performance profile surveys, equipment inspections, technical troubleshooting, maintenance evaluations, and workload analyses. Recommend procedure, and system improvements to reduce costs. Perform routine analyses and recommend basic cost proposals for systems and equipment. Facilitate work and provide assistance in the development of Independent Government Estimates (IGE’s) and Scopes of Work (SOWs) related to HVAC and other related building systems.
Assist in the development of short term and long-range plans for programs goals and objectives involving changing policies and procedures and limited resources. Gather data and coordinate activities to ensure the implementation of special program modifications within regional office facilities. Assist in inspecting and troubleshooting installed HVAC and other mechanical systems and equipment in Federal facilities.
Assist in coordinating and facilitating ongoing programs for evaluating Regional Energy and maintenance management procedures. Inspect all building systems and components to ensure that equipment and systems are in sound/stable condition and capable of operating at performance levels.

The GS-11 salary range starts at $78,592 per year. To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience: Specialized experience is defined as experience reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements; analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements; preparing statements of work and serving as the contractor representative to ensure compliance with contracts; analyzing contract specifications and determining if they are met; and analyzing and researching equipment problems or customer issues and making appropriate recommendations from many alternatives
The GS-12 salary range starts at $94,199 per year. To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience: Specialized experience is defined as utilizing Building Automation Systems (BAS) in the administration of building systems Heating Ventilation Air -Conditioning (HVAC), lighting, advanced metering, etc.). Creating and employing smart buildings operation and strategy processes. Developing, adapting, and implementing procedures and guidance to end users. Providing project support and delivery for (BAS) equipment and services.
