Serve as a technical authority in development, design, evaluation, application, inspection, testing of HVAC; other mechanical systems and related equipment. Functions involve solving technical problems: application of a practical knowledge of mechanical equipment system design and operation; monitoring contract administration/performance, conduct test, prepare reports, develop, review estimates, and make recommendation of an operation nature.

Duties
Improve and validate HVAC systems through the development and performance of equipment and facilities management tasks; review, comment and make recommendations involving mechanical drawings specifically dealing with HVAC systems.
Evaluate and determine the validity nationwide maintenance policies and programs utilizing the National Computerized Maintenance Management System (NCMMS) or similar systems.
Oversee meters and ensure preventive maintenance and calibrations are performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Develop estimates and Scopes of work (SOWs) related to HVAC and other building systems.
Prepare inspection reports, identify, and make recommendations for resolution of problems involving Building Mechanical and Equipment Systems.

The GS-12 salary range starts at $94,199 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience in the development, design, evaluation, application, inspection and testing of HVAC and other mechanical systems and related equipment. Function involves solving technical problems that require the application of a practical knowledge of mechanical equipment system design and operation. Perform inspections, provide Contracting Officer Representative (COR) support in monitoring contract administration/performance, conduct tests, prepare reports, develop, and review estimates and make recommendations of an operational nature.
