This position is located at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Deputy Commissioner (Financing and Operations), Associate Commissioner Financial Operations, Disbursing and Debt Management (DDM), Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) Support Services, Business Solutions & Services Division, Software Testing Branch.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Report on the status and progress of assigned software testing assignments, ensuring that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met.
Research, learn, and apply a wide range of qualitative and or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze, and improve test team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
Develop test materials (e.g., scenarios, scripts, data, and expected results) to validate acceptance of approved modifications and change requests (CRs) for each software release type including critical minor, major, and new customer releases. Update test materials (e.g., scenarios, scripts, data, and expected results) as modifications are completed.
Perform software testing: Write/execute automated scripts, analyze and report the results, troubleshoot identified problems, document objects or data warranting cleanup, re-test, and validate modifications for system problems.
Participate in weekly scheduled meetings with business owners, development, and support teams to identify, troubleshoot, and discuss system problem reports with Government subject matter experts.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience: For the GS-12 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience that includes ALL of the following:
-Experience writing and testing software using industry languages, methodologies, techniques, and procedures; AND
-Experience troubleshooting application software, products, or services; AND
-Performing user acceptance testing, including developing test materials and automated test scripts.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-11 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Experience troubleshooting application software, products, or services; AND
-Performing user acceptance testing, including assisting with developing test materials and automated test scripts;
OR
You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows:
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.M if related.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-9 level for 52 weeks.
