This position provides executive administrative support to the Medical Center Director at the Orlando VA Medical Center, VISN 8, the largest VISN in VHA. VISN 8 is the largest of the eighteen Veterans Integrated Services Networks within VHA. The Executive Assistant is responsible for coordinating all administrative support activities for the Medical Center's Director's Office.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
Management of an office's schedule or day-to-day plans.
Develops new plans or schedules using standard references.
Identifies objectives based on understanding of program and overall priorities.
Determines specific steps, input required, and/or meetings.
Identifies schedule and milestones; and estimates resources required.
Takes and finalizes minutes for numerous meetings on a recurring basis.
Makes all travel arrangements for the Director and prepares talking point documents and compiles travel folders.
Conducting detailed analyses of complex issues and work processes.
Files all travel vouchers working with the Travel Service Chief.
Secures supervisor documents, regulations, and other private information/files according to agency regulations.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/02/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07.
For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-09 Level
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Manages office's schedule or day-to-day plans. Manages the action items and ensures all suspense's are completed within the parameters as assigned. Prepares all Congressional responses in final format. Develops new plans or schedules using standard references. Handles the communication with persons and/or groups within and outside of an organization. Identifies objectives based on understanding of program and overall priorities. Determines specific steps, input required, and/or meetings. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education.
GS-11 Level
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the programs under the purview of the Director. Conducting detailed analyses of complex issues and work processes. Planning and organizing work, estimating costs, coordinating with staff and line management personnel, and conducting all phases of the plan. Completing projects, evaluations, reports, or ensuring recommendations are reviewed by the supervisor for compatibility with organizational goals, guidelines, and effectiveness in achieving objectives. Plans and carries out projects to improve the efficiency and productivity of organizations and employees in administrative support activities. Identifies, analyzes, and makes recommendations to resolve conventional problems and situations. Interpersonal skills in presenting recommendations and negotiating solutions to disputed recommendations. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
