VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UUDuties include, but not limited to: In the capacity as Coordinator for the Community Residential Care Program the incumbent is responsible for the development, evaluation, and communication of standards, policies and procedures to health care system social workers who serve as primary referral sources for the program; Responsible for assuring, in concert with Social Work Service that the placement of veterans into the CRC program meets VA eligibility requirements. Reviews referrals/consults for Veterans to the CRC Program to determine whether they meet eligibility criteria for inclusion in the CRC program and is responsible for coordination of admission to the program; Maintains a current list of active participants in the program to enable tracking of service activities, utilization of services and other functions; Responsible for assuring that monthly follow-up to veterans in the CRCs are completed as required by the program; Serves as a liaison to the participating CRC providers; Provides program oversight to ensure quality care is provided by contracted agencies; Provide direct services to Veterans served in the Community Residential Care Program to include assessment, treatment planning, case management and discharge planning as as needed to assure program requirements are met; Provides administrative, technical, and educational consultation necessary for accomplishing the work of the program, including education to health care system staff across the health care system and outreach efforts to community programs such as the state ombudsman program. Incumbent can resolve informal complaints and grievances; Assures that the annual VA CRC and program reviews are completed as set forth in VA policy and must have a good knowledge of state licensing standards concerning CRC programs; Serves currently as the primary resource for development of new resources for the CRC program; Responsible for assuring that quality assurance related to these programs are within program parameters; Responsible for assuring the reporting and investigating of sentinel/adverse events by program staff as necessary; Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to State, local, and private agencies, and universities. Technical assistance provided is based on monitoring activities and program reviews, and the development and analysis of information. In addition, the incumbent uses sound judgment in the interpretation of trends and patterns; the application of guidelines; and the recommendation of program enhancements; Performs program analysis, development, review, research, design, and contact work as possible with various agencies (public, DOD, state, etc.); A substantial portion of the workload directed by this position is carried out at one or more locations that are physically removed from the main unit under conditions that make day-to-day supervision difficult to administer. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens) English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Master's degree in Social Work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. Note: A doctoral degree in Social Work may NOT be substituted for the master's degree in Social Work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements stated above, the following qualification criteria must be met for each grade. The candidate's qualifications must clearly demonstrate the level of competence required for the grade. Experience and Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-39 Social Worker Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
