The Office of Protective Services, Personnel Security Division is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team. As a Security Specialist (Personnel Security), located at NASA Headquarters, Washington, DC, you will be responsible for national security/continuous vetting adjudications as well as the processing of all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) personnel requiring access for the Agency.

Review, evaluate and adjudicate reports of investigation for the granting or continuation of security clearance eligibility for NASA civil servant employees. Adjudications will be in compliance with the National Security Adjudicative Guidelines.
Prepare requests for additional information, letters of warning, letters of intent to deny or revoke and letters of notification of final intent to deny/revoke for national security adjudication determinations.
Manage workflow to ensure timely processing of cases to ensure compliance with government performance and accountability requirements. Keeps management abreast of recurring problems or systemic deficiencies.
Evaluate and adjudicate continuous evaluation/continuous vetting alerts received on national security population and takes appropriate action.
Determine the adequacy and completeness of national security investigations and evaluates the authenticity, veracity, and pertinence of the data presented for the adjudication process as it relates to SCI applicants and processing.
Responsible for processing all requests for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access, (contractors and civil servants), maintains SCI access list, and certifies clearance/access in response to inquiries.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Preparing case summaries, recommendations, and appropriate letters/correspondence at the conclusion of personnel investigative evaluations;
Reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating security clearance investigations in accordance with applicable policies and guidelines;
Utilizing and maintaining various computer applications, personnel security systems, and databases.
