This position is located in the Desktop Support Section, End User Services Branch, Enterprise Services Division, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of the Secretary, Department of the Interior (DOI). The Branch is responsible for the day to day operations of all desktop and peripheral support (to include mobile devices), email management and VIP support for customers supported by the OCIO.
Duties
Serves as the Supervisor and Section Chief for the Desktop Support Section
Responsible for providing leadership and guidance, evaluating and reviewing performance, recruiting and selecting Section personnel, resolving conflicts and proposing disciplinary action when required
Ensures that the section undertakes the re-engineering of its processes and/or the continuous improvements needed to provide the most effective results at the lowest cost that meets performance criteria
Reviews requests for IT services to develop detailed plans, sets staff priorities for projects, prepares budgetary justifications, forecasts, and projections and manages the allocation of resources to implement plans and projects
Develops lifecycle refresh plans with customers for all supported devices-desktops, laptops, all peripheral devices
Creates partnerships to facilitate work processes across the OCIO and the Office of the Secretary
Qualifications
For the GS-14 Grade Level: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this includes but is not limited to managing an IT hardware and software program in order to provide services and expertise to an organization's internal and external customers; analyzing, evaluating, and resolving problems and requirements for IT hardware and software related requirements; coordinating and analyzing findings and making recommendations on substantive programs; and reviewing and preparing technical and full cost recovery reports and contract documents.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education does not substitute for specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level.
