The purpose of this position is to provide initial patient screening, registration, and administrative services by assisting with direct patient care that involves specialized medical procedures of a routine nature according to established clinical protocol. Incumbent is a member of the Health Care Team. This position is located at Chinle Service Unit, Division of Nursing Services, Outpatient Department (OPD), Internal Medicine, Chinle, Arizona.
Duties
NOTE: This position is being announced concurrently with announcement IHS-24-CH-12044174-ESEP/MP for candidates at the GS-05/06 level, please review vacancy announcement for eligibility requirements. Applicants must apply separately for each announcement in order to be considered for each grade level.
Assist with direct patient care procedures (checking in patients, obtaining history, taking vital signs, etc.).
Work with healthcare providers in the outpatient clinics.
Assist with sterile procedures (sutures, chest tube insertion, apply/remove braces, etc.)
Educate, advise, and documents specific patient medical issues.
Prepare patient admission, transport packets.
Perform waived testing.
Contact non-compliance patients.
Participates in committees and meetings.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Specialize experience examples: perform routine specialized procedures of venipunctures, injections, and intravenous cannulation; perform less complex dressing and treatments without assistance; educates, advises, and documents specific patient medical issues; obtains a sterile in & out catharized urine specimen; and orientate new personnel.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
