This position is located in the Division of Administration (DOA), Corporate Services Branch (CSB), and Facilities Operations Section (FOS). As a Student Intern (Program Assistant) you will be trained to pull established reports; assist in conducting reviews and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned projects; and contracts. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Duties

Assists the Assistant Director in overseeing the FOS Operations by tracking contract task assignments, auditing invoices. Screens publications, directives, and periodicals; and brings issuances of significance to the supervisor’s attention. Attends and records the minutes at meetings, summarizes points and issues discussed, distributes the minutes, and follows up on commitments. Assists facilities staff with utilizing FDIC’s finance system (NFE) and supports other facilities staff by reviewing and making recommendations for all financial transaction requests. Assists in the preparation of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for various FOS topics. Maintains and revises the office filing system. Collects program information from technical specialists, enters it into electronic or manual information systems, and searches for it as requested; and, enters and retrieves information from a variety of systems. Maintains various automated databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of office activities and operations.

Qualifications

You must meet the eligibility and qualifications by the closing date of the announcement. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To be found eligible for this program, applicants must: (1) be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis; (2) have a minimum cumulative (overall) GPA of 2.50 out of 4.0; and (3) be in good academic standing. Education requirements are established by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and must be met by close of announcement. Below are the requirements by grade: CG-07- Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education, or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) with completion of a bachelor's degree.  If utilizing SAA, you must submit your transcripts or proof of your national honor society membership. Click here for Superior Academic Achievement qualification requirements; OR one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG-05 level in the Federal Service conducting research and analysis of data, directives, and policies for reports; utilization of software applications to create presentations, draft plans, outlines, agendas, schedules, briefing materials, meeting notes and reports; and technical support for document reviews and establishment/maintenance of files; OR have a combination of education and experience as listed above. Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level. An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.
