About the Position: Serve as a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist (Materials & Processes), responsible for performing staff surveillance of Non- Destructive Testing program operations.
Duties
Reviews new technologies and processes applicable to present and future workload.
Assigns personnel to investigate production and process problems as needed.
Manages and maintains the certification database and provides recertification testing when required.
Serves as the subject matter expert for non-destructive and destructive testing.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 35% of the time.
- Position requires incumbent employee to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
- This position is a Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- Pre-employment physical required as a condition of employment, prior to appointment, reassignment, or transfer, prior to reporting for duty. Subsequent annual physicals are required.
- Incumbent is required to meet the NAS410 Level III in Radiography certification prior to entry.
- Explosive Safety Certification is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience reviewing production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements; experience reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy, and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans; experience analyzing quality data to detect unsatisfactory trends or weaknesses in the quality/inspection system; experience verifying by test or inspection, using sampling inspection or intensive product inspection techniques, that products comply with requirements prior to acceptance; experience identifying inadequacies and requesting corrective action; experience computing data, summarizing results, and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods; experience investigating customer complaints and deficiency reports, and providing identification of causes to appropriate authorities; experience reading, interpreting, and applying technical data such as blueprints, engineering drawings, product specifications, or technical manuals; and experience reviewing and evaluating supply systems operations and procedures through periodic audits and surveillance inspections.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
