This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Salisbury VA Medical Center (VAMC), within Sterile Processing Department Section (SPS) of Patient Care Service.

Duties

Responsible for maintaining automated and manual systems of PCS-related data, including collection and compilation of data, tracking of data and analysis of statistical information in support of department operations Possesses detailed working knowledge and experience regarding the function and reprocessing of all clinical and administrative needs within the Salisbury purview Makes decisions regarding data sources, methodologies of data collection, techniques of analysis, display of findings, conclusions, and recommendations Responsible for collecting, compiling and/or tracking statistical information and preparing complex data/reports related to the administrative, clinical, and technical aspects of the service Tracks achievement on performance measures, goals, and objectives Receives and processes documents and reports in accordance with established procedures Utilizes software applications to retrieve information from a wide variety of sources in order to prepare reports Retrieves a variety of computerized data and establishes protocols for incoming data Organizes and maintains equipment data and assists in the planning, review, reporting, and presentation of data/statistical results of program studies Maintains, reconciles, and verifies the quality assurance reports for the PCS department and performs duties related to the maintenance, tracking and trending data related to Falls, Medication Aggregate, PRN effectiveness, wound care and other clinically tracked data Tracks and trends issues related to program effectiveness and implementation Utilizes statistical data to compile monthly workload reports as requested for all program staff Participates in performance improvement activities related to the program quality improvement process Offers performance improvement advice to program staff Performs ongoing tracking and validation of initial and annual competencies for staff, including required training to be accomplished Reviews and audits standard operating procedures for the department to ensure ongoing compliance with clinical standards of practice Manages the PCS electronical inventory system (EIL), including development and management of appropriate Microsoft files and spreadsheets, RTLS and other tracking and data management systems, for the addition of new equipment, tracking repairs and replacements for equipment needs of the department Manages the real-time instrument tracking system and provides leadership and assumes responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenances, and evaluation of the Electronic Inventory Management program Communicates and coordinates activities between PCS and facility departments, as well as, to other service lines within the hospital Coordinates special studies/projects as assigned by the department leaders to resolve process problems, identifies and evaluates potential solutions, and recommends action to management Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with office work, CPRS, Outlook, and consults Maintains appointment/meeting schedules and arranges conferences and training events Works cooperatively with Payroll, Human Resources, Clinical Services, Logistics, and Biomed, to establish shared goals that make for smooth processes for the department Operates with the MSS system process in accordance with HR guidelines Supports the service chief in entering MSS requests Monitors costs, applies cost tracking methods, and ensures that patient care needs are met at the lowest possible costs Responsible for providing PIV services; manages and sponsors employees within the service area and assists them with the PIV process Serves as the primary timekeeper and accomplishes all timekeeping tasks Work Schedule: Monday - Friday,8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/01/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information. Physical Requirements: Work is sedentary, and no special physical demands are required. However, occasional walking, standing, or bending is required.
