IT Specialists (INFOSEC) are a mission critical occupation for HRSA. These positions are responsible for the analysis of system and/or security requirements, the development and implementation of mission critical applications for the agency's Information Technology operations.
As an IT Specialist - Info Sec - Systems Architect you will serve as a recognized technical expert and provide consultative expertise in performing a variety of complex security, systems architecture, and data functions.
Your major duties and responsibilities will include:
Providing architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to other IT specialists, and software development teams.
Leading the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and IT practices.
Maintaining the baselines for the systems inventory and software, hardware catalogs. Maintains the baselines for the data catalog and dictionary for all the schemas, tables, data marts across the multiple systems.
Performing security reviews for the systems, identify gaps in security architecture based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) framework.
Supporting OIT in advocating and defining cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems.
Demonstrating knowledge of DevSecOps tool chains and processes; Actively supports design and steering of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
Designing and implementing architectures with appropriate security controls present to achieve and maintain authority to operate (ATO).

Requirements

To qualify for this position, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have IT-related information security experience in each of the four competencies listed below:

In addition to meeting the four IT related competencies listed above, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service performing the following tasks on a regular and recurring basis:
MINIMUM QUALIFYING SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, an applicant's one full year of specialized experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for successful job performance.
Examples of minimum qualifying specialized experience equal to the GS-13 level include performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis:
Integrating security into all phases of server-based application development, testing, operations and maintenance of servers and related databases.
OR
Evaluating secure technology solutions that are designed to protect the organization's infrastructure.
OR
Coordinating and conducting security governance and program/project management activities for ensuring compliance with the system architecture.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
