The primary purpose of this position is to exercise responsibility for DoD-wide and space systems architecture network
and computer security policy and space systems authorization support to USSPACECOM; to monitor and ensure the
integration of OSD, DoD, JCS, and DoD Space Domain Architecture security policies throughout DoD and
USSPACECOM.
Duties
Serves as a USSPACECOM cybersecurity expert for Space Systems architectures.
Provides technical expertise and leads the development of policies, guidance, and technical requirements for
completing space domain system cybersecurity risk assessments.
Represents USSPACECOM at a variety of Space Domain cybersecurity forums and exercises

- This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- Therefore, incumbent is required to: (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and misuse of prescription medication, and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing on short notice.
- Incumbent must pass initial and may be selected for random drug testing. May be subject to reasonable suspicion testing and safety mishap or accident testing.
- Incumbent is subject to uncommon tour of duty hours to include proficiency shifts, rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays on an infrequent basis.
- Extended shift work (12 hours), and off-duty hours on-call, particularly during Command exercises, special events, and emergencies.
- May occasionally be required to work irregular duty hours to include overtime and/or emergency overtime.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station in performance of temporary duty assignment (TDY) to include travelling on military or commercial aircraft.

- Information Assurance Certification as a Computer Network Defense - Incident Responder is a condition of employment. the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA level certification within six months of assignment of these duties.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology Management (Alternative A)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving AND have at least one year of specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-12), level or equivalent pay systems. Specialized experience includes mastery experience in advanced cybersecurity risk assessment methodologies and analyses for space systems sufficient to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing DoD space systems cybersecurity; mastery experience in advanced IT security concepts and practices sufficient to provide expert advice, guidance, decisions, and recommendations to senior leadership throughout DoD regarding cybersecurity risks to space systems.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Advanced knowledge of space systems architecture and related concepts, principles, and practices sufficient to conduct
cybersecurity risk assessments; analyze and develop recommendations to improve the space systems enterprise
cybersecurity environment; and to develop and interpret space domain policies, procedures, and strategies governing DoD
space system cybersecurity.
Expert knowledge of IT security concepts, principles, and practices sufficient to develop solutions to complex
cybersecurity issues, to design and implement DoD-wide space system cybersecurity assessments; and to evaluate
cybersecurity impacts within both existing DoD environments and emerging information technologies.
Broad and extensive knowledge of current DoD computer network defense framework; space system network and
information system operations; and DoD computer security policies, procedures, and directives related to the protection of
the Space Domain Enterprise.
Skill in applying analytical models and conducting cybersecurity assessments in a multi-system environment.
Ability to design, conduct, and coordinate comprehensive cybersecurity risk assessments; to ensure rigorous application
of cybersecurity policies, technical guidance, and practices to all components of the architecture; and to prepare
recommendations to resolve critical cybersecurity issues regarding Space Domain systems. Ability to communicate complex technical and programmatic information effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of cyber defense and cyber response policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to track and
document cyber defense incidents from initial detection through final resolution. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles
and operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses. Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing
and mitigating risk)
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
