As the Kennedy Ground Controls System (KGCS) Integration Lead for the Ground Controls Branch you will be responsible for overseeing, integrating, and leading all KGCS design and operations efforts, management of subsystem surveillance activities and verification of subsystem performance requirements across all subsystems that interface with KGCS. You will manage all subsystem testing activities and coordinate communication and integration support across multiple projects and organizations.
Duties
Provide guidance and direction for all design, development, maintenance, and operation activities concerning both hardware and software elements for the Kennedy Ground Control System (KGCS) and serve as surveillance lead for the subsystem.
Provide authoritative technical advice and direction during the decision and consultation process when dealing with variables and unknowns affecting planning, integration, coordination, and critical management of the Kennedy Ground Control System.
Resolve critical problems that arise requiring coordination with other KSC elements and outside organizations concerning Kennedy Ground Control System (KGCS) testing, validation, operation and maintenance (O and M), and KGCS system interfaces.
Manage operational support for the KGCS subsystem, creation of test procedures, analysis and reporting of test results, definition of system requirements, documentation of requirements, and the verification and validation of KGCS system designs.
Present and articulate Kennedy Ground Control System (KGCS) engineering position to EGS, SLS, and MPCV Cross-Program Boards, PRT’s and technical forums.
Review and analyze existing KGCS system designs in order to initiate redesign or modifications to improve operation effectiveness and reparability of hardware. Manage the application of unique or leading-edge technology into the subsystem.
Serve as the KGCS system expert for console operations of the Launch Control Center in support of field operations including an understanding of each subsystem’s Launch Commit Criteria (LCC) and how they interact and affect KGCS.
Complete understanding of the Kennedy Design and Data Management System (KDDMS) and knowledge of the Solumina and Maximo systems used to document testing and troubleshooting activities. Thorough understanding of KSC standards for design of EGSE.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Leading the modifications, testing, sustaining and operation of the Kennedy Ground Control System (KGCS) and all its subsystem interfaces by designing, configuring, operating, and maintaining the KGCS subsystem;
Presenting system performance issues, requirement concerns, testing and support status, project status, and team resource assessments;
Leading a team in the development of test algorithms and formulate solutions uniquely appropriate for subsystems which interface to the Kennedy Ground Control System (KGCS).

Education
Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus.
If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
Degrees in engineering technology are
not considered qualifying for this position.
