Duties
In this Lead Mission Support Specialist position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in leading and advising management, working with the Investigative Operations Division (IOD) and Mission Support Division (MSD) to provide guidance and expert technical advice in a variety of mission support functional areas for a Special Agent in Charge (SAC) field office and associated Resident Agent in Charge (RAC) field offices and supporting Office of Professional Responsibility employees (OPR) in their area of responsibility from a mission support perspective.
This position starts at a salary of $98,496.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $128,043.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $128,043.00 (GS-13 Step 10).

Typical work assignments include:
Providing expert-level advice, assistance, and guidance in mission support specialty area(s) to Special Agent in Charge (SAC) and Resident Agent in Charge (RAC) leadership, employees in the field offices, and staff at Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) headquarters to include providing authoritative advice and guidance to lower-graded mission support specialists.
Monitoring the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality are met.
Assisting with initiating and monitoring budget and procurement processes for management, with an awareness of the interrelationships between these two fields and their importance to achieving the mission including inputting and coordinating with Mission Support Division (MSD) the monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting requirements and everyday budget operations.
Keeping abreast of time and attendance, purchase card activity, travel processing, local property and inventory, regulations, and policies related to mission support functions within Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and planning, organizing, evaluating, and improving mission support services and processes.
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Maintaining investigative filing systems and disposing confidential investigation files based on retention schedules.
Serving as a point of contact for correspondences, requests and actions of employees' badges, credentials and maintaining records of these items.
Assisting with managing vehicles and reviewing budget execution activities.
Supporting managers on a regular basis by providing assistance on confidential staffing and recruitment activities.

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/27/2023.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. If you do not meet the residency requirement and you have been physically located in a foreign location for more than two of the last five years, you may request an exception to determine if you are eligible for a residency waiver by meeting one or more of the following conditions:
Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military
A dependent who was authorized to accompany a federal civilian or member of the military who was working for the U.S. government
Participation in a study abroad program sponsored by a U.S. affiliated college or university
Working as a contractor, intern, consultant or volunteer supporting the U.S. government
Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
