This vacancy is for an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of the Secretary within the Department of Commerce.
Duties
As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will perform the following duties:
Support property and procurement management; serve as the communication security (COMSEC) custodian and project
management of the Continuity of Operation (COOP).
Collaborate with investment stakeholders in developing and managing project, activity, and performance baselines in conformance with agency regulation and project management best practices.
Communicate with top management and other stakeholders regarding new developments and advanced methods, principles and techniques related to IT business cases and capital asset plans, programs, and projects in order to present recommendations for adoption of new methodologies and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations.
Evaluate, review, and assess information technology acquisition policies, regulations and procedures as prescribed by the regulatory agency.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

To qualify at the GS-13 Level:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
identifying IT security problems, trends, and weaknesses;
recommending modifications and solutions to reduce security risks; and
developing strategies for responding to future IT security challenges
