This position is located in the Facility Management Service Line of the VA Medical Center in Manchester, NH. The Motor Vehicle Operator operates gasoline, diesel, or electronic powered wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers, and perform snow removal and sanding/salting.
Applicants must have:
A valid current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Passenger (P) Endorsement
Air Brake Endorsement
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Operating wheeled vehicles and wheel-mounted tractors;
Operating engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler-type traction;
Operating passenger buses, regardless of gross vehicle weight;
Driving vehicles in poor weather conditions;
Operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, fuel trucks, and plow-equipped vehicles which
have a gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds up to 32,000 pounds, some of which are equipped with air brakes;
Operating vehicles over uneven terrain, over improved/unimproved roads and through congested areas on both short and long hauls;
Hauling cargo and fuel;
Transporting passengers;
Performing operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, replacing air filters and interior lights, checking tire pressure and hose connections and washing vehicle;
Performing landscaping/grounds maintenance tasks to include manual labor;
Performing light maintenance and repair on gasoline powered landscaping equipment;
Performing related duties as required.
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/06/2023.
This position requires a valid, state issued Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with both passenger and air brake endorsement. We cannot accept photographs. Therefore, please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package. If an interview is requested, you will be required to provide your driver's license for verification of required endorsements.

The ability to perform the duties of the Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The employee exerts moderate physical effort in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavy loads and many people. Vehicles are operated in all types of traffic and weather conditions on public roads and there is exposure to the danger of serious accidents. The employee drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange system.
