This position is located in the Office of Support Services, at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), in Phoenix, AZ. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the patient and visitor welcome and information desk. Incumbent in this position will report to the Chief Administrative Officer.
Duties

Operates the Welcome Desk at various locations throughout the facility, welcoming patients and visitors with the highest quality customer service.
Keeps family members informed of the patient's location, the patient process and waiting times.
Recognizes and exercises patience when providing information to elderly patients, patients with disabilities, and individuals that may need further assistance.
Provides referral services to appropriate clinics, transportation and burial service arrangements, or other services available in the community for PIMC patients.
Develops and maintains a reliable working relationship/liaison with community resources to be responsive to patient and community needs.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0304-04:
1 year of general experience that was progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position.
OR
2 years of education above high school level that was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0304-05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Operated a welcome desk in various facility locations; welcomed patients and visitors; answered and directed calls in accordance with privacy and confidentiality policies; provide information related to benefits, privileges, obligations and right of patients; provide information to family members related to patient location, patient care process and potential wait times; worked with elderly patients who have difficulties with communication, physical disabilities, and/or patients who have stress that impact communication; clear up miscommunication between parties; provide referral services to appropriate clinics, transportation, and other related medical services needed; identify individuals who require behavioral health services and refer to the Social Services or Behavioral Health Department.
OR
4 years of education above high school level that was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
