Duties

You will serve as an INSTRUMENT MECHANIC in the ANTENNA REPAIR SHOP (67H), ELECTRONICS REPARI DIVISION (TRF-730), WEAPONS REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF-700), TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, KINGS BAY, GA. You will inspect for damaged components, wear, faulty alignment, and excessive play or friction in bearings. You will perform checks on electrical/electronic components and wiring, linkages, gear engagements, and other mechanisms. You will coordinate efforts with and between other trades to accomplish proper installation and alignment. You will perform electrical and mechanical tests of repaired assemblies such as drive motors, synchros, servo systems, etc., in a test stand and on board submarines to assure they meet requirements. You will disassemble the various subsystems to the component level.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision such as: Troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling assigned antenna instruments and equipment; detecting and resolving malfunctions by performing complex repairs to electronic components, installing replacement parts, etc.; and refurbishing parts using tools such as: drills, grinders, micrometers, dial indicators, etc. Installing, adjusting, and aligning instruments and equipment and performing post-repair checks on instruments and equipment to ensure operational accuracy of systems. Inspecting assigned instruments and equipment and disassembling various subsystems.
